Competence
Private business
We know the life of companies – from establishment and growth to disagreements, restructuring and termination. Through assistance to the business community in Bergen and Vestland since the year of establishment in 1984, we have learned how closely legal issues are connected to economics and the decisions owners and boards must make. We also assist when developments turn around, and the room for maneuver becomes smaller.
A company changes throughout its life. It is established, acquires owners, enters into agreements, hires people and grows. Along the way, questions about strategy, transactions, tax and VAT may arise. We assist in clarifying the legal framework and the financial consequences of the choices to be made.
Sometimes disagreements arise between owners, with contractual partners or in employment relationships. In such cases, we help clarify what the case concerns, assess the risks of taking it forward and negotiate a solution. When necessary, we take the case to court.
We also know the part of a company’s life that is less often discussed: when the economy is under pressure, the board and owners have to make difficult decisions, and restructuring or winding up must be considered. Three of our partners are regularly appointed by the district court as receivers in bankruptcy, compulsory liquidation and restructuring cases. The experience from such assignments gives us insight into what happens when a company cannot continue as before – and what questions should be asked before the room for manoeuvre is exhausted.
For over 40 years, we have worked with businesses in Bergen and Vestland. This local knowledge, combined with experience from both growth, conflict and adversity, shapes the way we assess the companies' opportunities and risks.
